The 2025 Kia K5 is a sharp-looking Midsize Sedan that received a significant “mid-cycle refresh” this year. It remains one of the most aggressive-looking cars in its class, often compared to luxury sport sedans because of its wide stance and signature “Z-shaped” amber LED daytime running lights.+1
For 2025, Kia upgraded the engine and overhauled the dashboard to keep it ahead of competitors like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
Performance & Capability
The 2025 model has a new standard engine that is more powerful than the previous version:
- Engine 1 (LXS, GT-Line, EX): New 2.5L 4-Cylinder (191 hp / 181 lb-ft). This replaces the old 1.6L turbo, offering a more linear and reliable feel.+2
- Engine 2 (GT Trim only): 2.5L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder (290 hp / 311 lb-ft). This is a “beast” of an engine, capable of 0–60 mph in just 5.2 seconds.+1
- Transmission: 8-Speed Automatic (Standard) or 8-Speed Dual-Clutch (GT trim).
- Drive: Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) is standard, but All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is available on the GT-Line trim for better traction in rain or snow.
Comfort & Practicality
The 2025 refresh brings a much more modern, “clean” interior:
- Curved Display: New for 2025, it features a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen that curves toward the driver. Higher trims combine this with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster for a seamless glass look.
- Updated Tech: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard across all models.
- Trunk Space: It offers 15.6 cubic feet of storage. While it’s a sedan (not a hatchback), the trunk is deep and the opening is wide enough for large suitcases.
Safety & Features
The 2025 K5 comes with the Kia Drive Wise suite as standard, which includes:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian and Cyclist detection.
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (now standard on all trims).
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist.
- Parking Sensors: Front and rear sensors are now standard on the base LXS trim, which is rare for this segment.
